Mad Cow Disease is thought to be caused by a messed up protein, called a Prion. These hard-to-kill little critters (much smaller than bacteria or viruses) attack the brain and spinal cord tissues in cattle and sheep, and can infect entire herds if the nervous tissue is consumed in cattle feed, for example. The infection may not reveal itself for decades, making it difficult to isolate the cause; there is no cure, and - gulp - no chance of recovery. (Each doll has its own unique pattern)

Giant Microbes¨ are an awareably great way to introduce serious public health issues to young (and young at heart), tackling tough subjects with a bit of twinkle. They may skew the approach a little, but not the message: that awareness is important, no matter what age the awaree! These fuzzy little critters go a long way to break down barriers and make the subject matter less threatening. AndÉTHEY ARE REALLY FUN!

Note: Each 5 Ð 7 inch doll is made of surface washable polyester, accompanied by both image and information on the colorful tags. Great educational and awareness opportunities for parents, educators, you and yours.
