Staph aureus infections can be as minor as a pimple, or as serious as a fulminating infection. A common bacteria typically residing on the skin, Staph can be lethal if introduced into the blood stream. Staph is one of the major contributors to nosocomial, or hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). To make matters worse, Staphyloccoccus is becoming increasingly dangerous as it builds resistance to anti-microbial therapy (antibiotics.)
